Olive/Beige
Statement outerwear piece from Dézert, a label activeduring the 80s and 90s,created by one of the original Comme des Garcons Homme patternmakers Shigehiko Taguchi. This cropped blouson is rendered in a beautifulstructured olive nylon and oversize fit that give the piece an incredible off-the-body sculptural look when worn. The enormous side pockets wrap from front to back and add even more structure and 3 dimensionality to the garment. These side pocketsare alsofinishedwith a chunky zipper that curves 90 degrees around 2 edges, allowing for both horizontal and vertical access (see this design detailalso in work by Issey Miyake, Acronym, etc.)
This jacket creates a perfect visual balance contrasting simplicity(in its plain hem, band collar, and sleek curved sleeves) and maximal noisiness (in the contrast placket trim and array of utility pockets that wrap entirely around the torso). It is a true hybrid, adoptingelements from a variety of menswear archetypes: The sleeve pocket, orange lining, cropped body, and coloration ofthe traditional MA-1, utility pockets and mesh lining of fisherman's vests, and the band collar, 2 piece sleeve, and zippered cuffs ofrider's jackets. The result is a wonderfully unique, statemented, andinherently wearable piece.
